Gujarat Congress chief Arjun Modhwadia tells Kunal Majumder that corporates are praising Modi only because of his largesse. “t has been revealed through RTI that sops worth Rs 33,000 crore have been given to the Tatas. Without taking a single penny, land was transferred initially. Then the government asked the Tatas to pay back the money in instalments. The case is similar for Adani, DLF and other companies. Hundreds of acres were given at throwaway prices. So they will obviously praise him.”
JP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi tells KUNAL MAJUMDER that allies cannot dictate terms during the Bihar poll campaign. “Modi is our senior leader and commands mass appeal. The Bihar campaign is going to start in October and we are still finalising the details. It’s too early to say anything. We are in the process of drawing up the list of possible rallies that we will organise on our own and the ones that we will jointly hold with the Janata Dal (United). The final decision will be taken after consultations with leaders at the state and national level.”
CBI lawyer KTS Tulsi tells KUNAL MAJUMDER that the Gujarat Chief Minister is interfering in the Sohrabuddin case. “I think the chief minister is continuing to interfere with the judicial process. I don’t think it is correct for the CM to give a certificate of innocence to any accused from a public platform,” he says.
